Tapawera GP and Nurse Clinic

We have been able to obtain some funding to help run the Tapawera GP and Nurse Clinics for another year – great news for the rural community!  We will continue to use part of this money to reduce the cost of seeing the doctor at the Tapawera Clinic.

While the funding lasts, prices for patients at the Tapawera Clinic will be:

  • $30 instead of $46.50 to see the GP.
  • $25 instead of $43.00 for under 25s and over 65s to see the GP.

Note: charges at for patients seen at Wakefield Health Centre are unchanged.

We are also investing in a few improvements – some new chairs, some carpet for the clinic room and a heater to help us all warm up on winter mornings!

Our Practice Nurse, Rebecca, runs a nurse clinic every second week during term time at the same place, so next time you need your ears syringed, a smear or a wound check don’t forget to make use of the service – it’s a case of “use it or lose it”.

We have managed to obtain this funding on the basis that there is a need for more health services in Tapawera. If the clinic is not used we will be unlikely to secure funding in the future – so if you need to see the GP and it’s not urgent, make sure you ask about our Tapawera Clinic – it will help keep the clinic open, and cost you less!

We look forward to seeing you there!
